PROJECT PROFILE: ABSOLUTE GREEN ENERGY
IES provides consulting and referral services to Absolute Green Energy (AGE). AGE provides solar electric systems, solar thermal systems, energy audits, and feasibility studies for commercial, industrial, and residential buildings. The company has benefited from shared resources, networks and expertise of IES. IES leveraged their partnership with Quinsigamond Community College (QCC) to allow AGE to provide instruction for a PV course. The Institute also referred both of AGE’s summer interns, one of whom was hired full time as the Director of Business Development. Absolute Green Energy is considering venturing into wind power and may eventually offer power purchase agreements (PPAs), which would allow households and businesses to power their homes and offices using solar power without having to purchase the solar panels themselves. AGE also hopes to get involved in public works, such as conducting energy audits on city facilities or installing solar panels in schools and municipal buildings – both areas in which IES is working to help facilitate. President of AGE Mike Ortolano explains, “We’re an energy company that does a lot of different things and our small size allows for an unusually high focus on the customer.”
