IES RECEIVES EV CHARGING STATIONS FROM COMMONWEALTH
The Institute for Energy & Sustainability (IES) in partnership with the Town of Lancaster, Worcester Polytechnic Institute, Clark University and National Grid was awarded a grant from the Patrick/Murray administration to install Coulomb Electric Vehicle Charging Stations throughout Worcester and Lancaster. The Charging Stations that the IES proposal is receiving will be placed at Clark University, WPI, Quinsigamond Community College and the town of Lancaster. WPI Assistant Vice President, Linda Looft relayed, that the “Universities are thrilled because it provides an outstanding opportunity for demonstration and testing of this technology in a research environment for students, professors and visitors.”
Other communities receiving charging stations include Athol, Barnstable, Boston, Brookline, Cambridge, Chelmsford, Falmouth, Greenfield, Hanover, Holyoke, Hopkinton, Kingston, Lancaster, Lenox, Lowell, Nantucket, New Bedford, New Salem, Newton, Northampton, Orange, Salem, Tyngsboro, and Worcester. “I’m pleased we are able to count Worcester and Metro-west Massachusetts as committed early adopters in the clean transportation movement,” Congressman James McGovern says. “We must continue to aggressively target clean technology and transportation opportunities on a local level; not just for our own fiscal and environmental health, but to inspire Congress — and the rest of the country — to follow suit.”
