Clark’s long history of environmental engagement and our current initiatives are clear indicators of the University’s commitment to sustainability.

Clark Sustainability Collaborative is a forum for Clark students to discuss and act upon issues of environmental sustainability and climate change, and for varied eco-related groups on campus to work together via a common umbrella organization.

Clark University’s Graduate Net Impact Chapter gathers students to learn about opportunities for involvement in the areas of CSR, social entrepreneurship, nonprofit management, international development, and environmental sustainability. Net Impact is an international nonprofit organization with a mission to inspire, educate, and equip individuals to use the power of business to create a more socially and environmentally sustainable world.

Clark University Climate Action Plan: In response to the American College & University Presidents Agreement on Climate Change, Clark researched and published a Climate Action Plan. Benchmarked for 2005, the bold goal of climate neutrality (zero emissions) by 2030 is supported by a range of strategies to reduce the University’s greenhouse gas emissions. The Plan illustrates Clark’s strong commitment to sustainability.

The Clark University Environmental Sustainability (CUES) Task Force is comprised of representatives from the faculty, administration, and graduate and undergraduate students. Our mission is to promote environmental sustainability at Clark University by increasing awareness of environmental and sustainability issues on campus, by researching environmental impacts of University activities along with recommendations for improvement, and coordinating activities related to environmental sustainability of the University.

The Clark University Ecological Representatives aims to promote sustainability in the residence halls through a student leadership program within the Residence Halls. The Eco-Reps program strives to foster a culture of sustainability on campus, and actively participate in reducing the university’s ecological and carbon footprint. Eco-Reps strive to make Clark University a leader in sustainability.

Cycles-of-Change is Clark University’s bicycle-themed student organization dedicated to promoting bicycling as a means of physical exercise, sustainable transportation, connection with the community, and recreation. We’re here to help Clark students and others in the surrounding community become as enthusiastic about biking as we are!

Sustainability is an integrated, three-part approach for achieving the goals of environmental preservation, economic prosperity, and social equity for all members of society. WPI is proudly engaged in each of these critical and overlapping areas through our learning, research, service, and administrative operations. WPI actively seeks to foster a community that produces innovative ideas and practical solutions to the complex problems associated with each part of the sustainability puzzle.

Campus Sustainability Report

The purpose of the President’s Task Force on Sustainability is to provide leadership and coordination for WPI’s campus-wide efforts in energy and resource conservation and reduction in the harmful environmental impacts of our operations, all directed toward enhancing the long-term sustainability of WPI’s activities and the environment of which we are a part.

A new volunteer program at WPI allows students and staff to serve as Eco-Reps in their residence halls or buildings. These eco-reps are learning about ways to live and work more sustainably on campus, and they will be able to assist you in any questions that you have regarding recycling and waste reduction, like locations for containers within your building, locations for special recycling containers elsewhere, etc..  If they don’t have answers to your questions right away, they will get them for you!
