PROJECT PROFILE : WEATHERIZATION ROUNDTABLE

IES is very committed to helping promote and strengthen the energy efficiency market and program opportunities throughout Central MA.  We took a major step toward achieving this on Monday, September 13, 2010 when we hosted a Weatherization Roundtable.  The roundtable, hosted in partnership with the Worcester Community Action Council and the City of Worcester connected energy efficiency businesses, suppliers, government officials and contractors with the goal of supporting the expansion of the energy efficiency economy and market in the region.
The Roundtable, held at the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, brought together over 100 businesses and individuals with an interest in developing and promoting the supply side of energy efficiency.  It was important to bring together the suppliers of energy efficiency services to capitalize and improve on the regional strengthens of this sector and identify and overcome programmatic gaps.  Industry leaders from Conservation Services Group, National Grid, Next Step Living, and the City of Worcester presented on efficiency programs including; expanding market access; regulations; financing for weatherization projects; and how to attract energy efficiency projects to central Massachusetts. Other notable speakers included Congressman Jim McGovern and Lt. Governor Tim Murray, both strong proponents of expanded weatherization.  The presentations were followed by an audience led discussion and a closing networking session.   Plans are underway to make this an annual event.
